Default HTC One V - Legend 2ish

The chin is in!

Look ma no buttons!
  • ICS 4.0
  • Beats
  • 1 GHz Snapdragon S2 single core
  • 4 GB internal storage (w/ microSD) - the only "One" phone with mSD
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 3.7 WVGA SLCD (480x800)
  • 5 MP (720p video)
  • 1500 mAh battery

This IS the budget smartphone once again, same unibody design.

Anyone else feel naked without the trackpad?

Only saddened that it isn't dual core

Bell Canada will have this.

I was very happy to hear about the "new Legend" but after reading the Specs i was confused:

- a 1 GHz Snapdragon S2 single core on a 2012 phone ?
- in my view the design of the legend only works WITH the trackpad

will try it in shop when its out.

There isn't one. But there's a Hero S, which is a disgrace to the series imo.

Ya know what, too many of these HTC phones look the same, they all look like the desire HD, well that's the first phone of that type case/format I've seen.... this is one of the reasons I love the legend. I think my choice of replacement phone would be the HTC rhyme.

No trackball, no thanks. Well, on a screen that small anyway.

I'll pass for now. Gotta love that trackball. And chin.

Definitely looks interesting! I still love the design, build quality and form factor of my Legend (now on CM7 though). Everything bigger than 4" seems too big for me anyway.

Now after 2 years I'm also ready to invest again and upgrade, but I'm just not sure yet, if this device HTC One V doesn't fall a bit short for a 2012 device that should last me also 2 years.

Here's why:

- 512MB RAM only, seriously? Only because the original Legend had less RAM than its competitors doesn't mean you have to do the same mistake again, right?
- TFT instead of Amoled? Gotta check that out hands-on first.
- Trackball gone, why? That alone kept me using my Legend until now, as I'm extensively working with SMS/Whatsapp/Web Forms and so on.
- Front Facing Camera, no mention of this one?
- Removable Battery, I can't count, how many times I had to pull the battery on my Legend over the years, but a software solution for a reset is not attractive to me. Also, my original battery gives me now a maximum of 4 hours up-time after 2 years, if I can't change the battery on my next device I wouldn't buy it

Other than that....if the price is right....who knows, I might still grab one. Doesn't have to be the latest and greatest for me, after all it's just a phone.

Hmmm! Pre-Order price for the HTC One V at Expansys is about $394.....hmmmm!

Source here.

GSMarena lists it without FFC. Radio seems to be gone as well.
So how about the battery? Did anyone read anything if it's removable?

The non remove able battery is so you don't brick it. On some the emmc chips(such as in the desire s) if you pull out the battery while on you can fry the emmc chip and hard brick your phone. Apparently there will be a reset hole somewhere on there new phones that will wipe get rid of the need for a battery pull.
