I'm on stock firmware for india based on 2.3.5 (latest available here) and when i turn the phone to silent mode with or without vibration, i don't have any camera sound! I have only recently rooted my phone and haven't changed any system files or tweaked the build.prop or anything else.
As far as i can remember, the camera sound wasn't there (when i put the phone on silent mode) even before the root!

Thanks buddy, but I was thinking of a permanent solution whether you are in silent mode or not it shouldn't make any sound.

Dude can you try the method which EmoBoiix3 has given in his first post, in which you'll have to modify the build.prop and reply if it works or not?

It would be very helpful for others buddy.

yeah tried it but not working.
do i have to flash the ROM again? i only changed it using the text edit on my Filesmanager.

The build.prop entry is for silencing the shutter sound......
You might want someone to upload the .ogg and then try the build.prop again .

Alternatively , you could reflash the firmware through Odin3 .

To disable the camera sound, there's a few things you can do.

1. This one is kinda annoying but if the sound annoys you more, you could just put your phone on silent or hold the volume down button until the volume is off. The camera shutter sound shouldn't be heard.

2. Download an alternate camera application. Eg. LGCamera.

3. Wait for the CyanogenMod 7 rom. That has the option to disable the sound in it's settings.

Well i have a doubt. I dont know wether its off topic or on topic.

I want to ask all Galaxy R owners that, how long does the battery last ??

My problem is that when i purchased d fone, i dint follow the proper charge cycle i.e. i had charged for 40-50% and den again started using it. Due to which my fone lasts for a day to 18hrs...

My usage includes 2-3hrs of music, 1hr of call, Edge On for entire day, 2hr of game play.

So i wanna ask that if i follow proper cycle from now on, will my battery last for more time ??

and can any one suggest a good battery extender ?? upto 3000mAh (one like s2)
