I mounted system first in cwm and the files are in there now

Just look in /system/bin for any files that say "ibeats" in the name.

I definitely notice a difference, but I can't find the files either. Are we sure they aren't installed somewhere else? Or am I just imagining the upgraded sound quality?

Ah nothing like a placebo effect. Make sure you mount system in cwm before flashing the file.
