Question [Q] How to use PowerON and PowerOFF sounds with CM9-based roms?

I've done a fair bit of googling and searching here on XDA but haven't found anything that worked and wondered if perhaps I was simply doing something incorrectly.

I've tried placing my poweron.mp3 and poweroff.mp3 in folders with those same names under root\system\media\audio

the files themselves directly in the audio folder, tried them under system\etc

and I believe another location but no matter what I hear nothing when booting using EB's build 2.

Anybody have any ideas on where to go next with this?

They need to be in .ogg format. Go here (http://media.io/) and convert the .mp3 files to .ogg and place them in the poweron and poweroff folders under System\Media\Audio. They should be named PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg respectively. Should work after that.

Should this work under CM7 / EB 2.3.7 also? I just tried it exactly as you said and no dice

Are this and the reason we can't have bootanimation(is that poweron?) noises the same?

Cause if so... That's a CM7(probably 9) issue.

I've been googling for a few days now and can't seem to find how to use poweron/poweroff sounds with CM-based ROMS. Anybody else have any luck?

I guess the Cyanogen stuff may not support it. I use Weapon w/Faux Kernel and it works fine for me. Sorry guys.

I'll try asking on the cyanogen forums and post any relevant answers here. Thanks again though.
