Default Compiling for P6200

Ok, well I just completed a compile for P6200 with the following:

Code:
cd ~/android/CM9
export CYANOGEN_NIGHTLY=1
export USE_CCACHE=1
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch cm_p6200-userdebug
make clobber
mka bacon
This assumes you've done the following:
  • set up build environment (compilers, dependencies, system packages, etc), see the Google Android Source website for generic ICS requirements
  • clone CM ICS repo (repo init ...), check the CyanogenMod wiki, or Teamhacksung's wiki for basic instructions on getting repo and cloning the repository
  • added my local_manifest.xml to your CM9/.repo/

P6800 is 99% the same process.
Devices: Sony Xperia T, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Huawei U8185
Work: Heimdall firmware packages for Samsung stock ROMs (GT-I9000, GT-P6200), noma kernel for stock Huawei U8150 ROMs, CyanogenMod 7.2 for Huawei U8150, CyanogenMod 10 for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus

why 99% for 6800 ?

so it's 98,99% the same for 6810 ?

Same reason wifi is busted in CM...

The wifi driver and wpa_supplicant are dual-licensed GPL and BSD by Atheros. (Most wifi drivers are strictly GPL-only). This gave Samsung an excuse to withhold wifi driver source code.

No source code for a critical component like wifi = MAJOR pain in the ass. I was considering a Tab 7 Plus myself until I saw that Samsung had pulled that stunt. That turned a lot of developers away from these devices.

In general, Honeycomb tabs didn't see much userspace development, just kernel development. Even the Tab 10.1 didn't have too many people developing alternate firmwares - partly because HC was reasonably decent to begin with and none of the manufacturers were particularly aggressive with skinning efforts. That left the kernel as a place to tweak - but lack of source for wifi drivers makes many kernel developers go "yuck, bad device, do not want!"
*so much sig updating needed*

An excellent post on "noobs vs. developers"

A few opinions on kernel development "good practices"

Please use the right word. U would pay the guy, not donate to him. Donations are given without expecting anything in return.

It's always the bloody wifi drivers. Same issue with the Touchpad. Sigh. Will they release wifi drivers when ICS comes out will be the question!

For anyone who was considering building from source, just beware that the screen glitch is going to plague you like no other. The alpha2 build I posted had a modification to the kernel to stop it from appearing most of the time, however, I never actually pushed those changes since they it was a pretty big hack (I don't have them anymore since I tossed them after making the alpha2 build, in the effort of producing an actual fix for the issue, which I never found).

Default CM9 Development to date

I m using my Tab 7.7 on daily bases so I m a bit hesitant putting CM9 onto my Tab yet as it says in the initial post that there are a few things still don't work like WiFi and bluetooth...

Since, a lot of testers on the forum are using it, I would like to know if the major bugs are sorted out and the ROM is at least usable, coz I m really not happy with the 3.2 like many other users here...

Any input on this regard will be highly appreciated

It's not usable. Wifi does not work. Colours are buggy.
