Same here. I am okay waiting even if it's 2 or 3 weeks, as long as when my phone is returned that the issue has been resolved once and for all.

Out of interest, anyone know how long Sony can keep hold of your phone whilst waiting for parts to the point they would have to replace it?

This was also my first thought!!
Anyway the tints, before Sony repaired my device, were really good to see. Even my girlfriend saw them!

But now it looks pretty good. Hopefully! :S

I received my device on monday after it was nearly two weeks in service, cause of the yellow tint issue. They changed the handset. Before i had 12W10 AAAB.
Now I've 12W08 AA CB5 and of course also a new IMEI. Both were on Touch Firmware 7.

Tested it yesterday extensively and reached a temperature about 48°C with a little help from the sun when the XS was in the car.

There is NO yellow tint on the bottom and on the edges(left, right) of the screen anymore when i checked it via the white service screen (*#*#7378423#*#*).

But there are very, very, very, very light tints at the top in the corners, left and right, when the device is upper 42°C. They are really very, very hard to see. I discussed with my gf about them. She didn't see them. If i switched from white to the black, red, green screen they weren't visible anymore! On my opinion this issue is fixed for me, if the tints aren't getting stronger and new tints appear.

Will check it the next weeks and keep you informed, if it gets worse!

greetz
can you be sure it's a tint or is it just the background light coming from the sides.

I find it kind of weird that sony say's only a small numbers are affected when they admit to the problem, it seems more like 80%, dont you like to admit that even when sony does apologies, they make it sound good using the word small numbers and not most.

I don't think that it has to do with the backlight because they are only visible for me, when the device is above 40°C.

And in my opinion if there were only small numbers, Sony would never have reacted on this issue!

"A small number..." sounds better then "every device", cause then Sony maybe had to call every device back!

And I think that not everyone find those tints, or even don't care about them!

I'm glad I told them to stick it and was lucky enough to get an exchange in store, because I don't agree with having to give up my new phone for a day never mind longer.

As for length of time read this

http://whatconsumer.co.uk/returning-...-faulty-goods/

I'd ring them back and ask how long the new parts are going to take. Depending on what they say I'd be telling them your not happy and give them a time scale you think is OK before you want a replacement and see what they say.

Hi, allow me to leave my testimonial!

Got my XPS (initially I said it was 12W12 but it was 12W10 after all) it looked OK...but then I went for a ride using GPS and Bluetooth on...only after 15min I could already see small spots on the screen (lower region) and immediately I turned off the phone and face it to the car A/C to cool it down...when I arrived home, and turned on phone on, the spots were gone but now the lower region has this yellowish white, and the top region has the white white...really pity :/

So, I went to the store and the nice lady told me that it is not a small number of mobiles that are affected but maybe all before 12W14...off course many people will not use the phone intensively to the point of 40ºC and others will think the yellowish white is normal and others will be too lazy to send it to technical support because the spot is not that big.

I'll try to hold on to this unit 'til there is a way to unlock SIMLOCK for free, being that I already spend money unlocking this one and if I exchange it I'll have to unlock it again. Really a shame :/

Regards!

Hi can anyone confirm that AB and newer phones are free of faults?
And I talk toa store in the UK and they said to me in 2 different times that form all the xperia S they've sold only 5 have the issue(or at least 5 notice it)
do you think is it already safe to buy it( i'm getting it around 20 may) as I read in a blog that the demands on this phone was crazy and that many many people were buying it and that SONY WAS SENDING STOCK TO UK AND OTHERS
this store told me they recieved new stock days before
is it safe?
thanks

Yesterday I received a brand new one (Deutschland)
12W13
ABAC
T-Firmware 7

I did put it through hard work, battery maxed out at 46 and Test Error for battery. Phone and screen fairly hot. no yellow tint showed up.

All I can do is to hope for no Yellowness.
Sent from my White Black Sony Xperia ZL while typing right to left
