[Q] Freezing "Messaging"

Hi all, can we freeze the "Messaging" app? I just want it gone from the app drawer, etc, as I use GoSMS and ChompSMS. Will this prevent me from receiving/sending SMS/MMS?

Just asking as I've read a few threads and it's unclear if it's just a front-end or if other apps leverage it for tasks.

Since there's no definite list yet of things that could possibly break things, I would just freeze it and try it for a few days.

worst case scenerio you unfreeze it, no harm done

You probably won't have the locked screen message viewer anymore, but yea, if it works, then we can mark "messaging app" on the "Safe to remove list"

True true.

I don't want the locked screen message viewer anyway - I receive a lot of spam/unwanted SMS so I use chompSMS to blacklist them. The locked screen message viewer ignores the chompSMS blacklist. :P

If your phone is rooted, you can freeze or delete default mms.apk.

Correct - it's the side effects of doing that that I was concerned about.
