edit: wow its hard to brick. haus said a radio brick -might- work. any ideas on that? could save some people some time. how would you even recover from that?
That really depends on how this emmc_recovery mode loads. If it is a hardcoded program that is integrated into the emmc chipset, then it would just be a matter of rewritting mmcblk0p13 then 0p18 using the linux tool the method uses now. However, it the emmc_recovery mode relies on radio rejecting HBOOT, then it may not even load that mode when plugged into the computer.
At this point, the only way I see to find out for sure is someone brave enough to try, or someone that has accidentally given themselves a radio brick finding this.

Oi, I'd say just plug it into the linux box and cross your fingers, hopefully the light is just too dim.

You sure , you are holding volume down button ?
Also dont forget to open 3-4 terminals and doing sudo -s first in all of them, then the sda13/sdb13/sdc13 thingy. All windows should be waiting for device.

Depends which ROM you flash.
If you are S-OFF then no problem in changing ROM. Just do thenecessary radio/firmware updates 1st.
Dont know for sure , if you can go back from 2.17 or 2.08 to 1.13
Everything up to step 2 went as outlined in the OP, now I'm at step 2, I first have the rom.zip named PG86IMG on my sdacrd, I then boot into bootloader, let it detect the rom.zip, plug my phone into AC charger, pull out the battery, my power stays on. Next I hit the volume up button and wait 3 to 5 seconds and unplug the AC charger and plug it back in real quick. But everytime I unplug the cord, right when I unplug it, my screen goes black and everything turns off. I've tried this 5 times ending with the same result. Am I doing something wrong here? At this time, I'm booted into windows 7 (but I don't think it matters). Am I not being quick enough?

took me 15 tries, in the upper right youll see 2 bars go up to show its unzipping/loading, then when you hit update , you have to pull power when you see the bar again. right when you see the bar that goes quickly.thats when i finally bricked.
Also... Your screen is supposed to be black, its a hard brick. It won't do anything till u plug it into linux and it finds it and writes the hboot. Then u power back up to hboot and viola.

I cant understand your problem correctly but your phone will shut off as soon as you unplug it from power source as it doesnot have power to work .
Wait for a sec more till you see the bar at top right while updating (not while checking) then unplug it.

Okay, I see I'm not alone here, lol.. I'll keep trying. Also, could someone pm me the commands they typed in their linux terminal session? Please? If not, It's cool.

You guys are awesome Also, you got my problem right. I'm having a hard time with the timing of my unplugging the AC power cord. I don't know whether im waiting too long, or not long enough.. But after your guy's responses, imma try again. Thanks.

All the commands u need are in step 3 of the op, I typed sudo-s and the Chmod command and the emmc_recover command in each of five windows and had them waiting for device before I even bricked. I'd hate to brick then not get it to wait for device.
