Yeah it doesn't seem to work on most phones
If you have an engineering spl, flash a recovery with fastboot
If you have 1.33.0013d follow the instructions in the 2708+ kernel thread for recovery gone

I'm actually thinking of flashing back to 1.5 and starting again!
Can I flash roms from
1.33.0013d boot loader? Or do I need to upgrade to engineering spl?

In the 2708+ kernel thread OP, there are instructions on what to do if stuck without recovery.
You can't flash anything in 1.33.0013d other than nbhs. And the instructions there have you flash an nbh with an engineering spl.
Then with that engineering spl you go ahead and flash recovery, spl, and radio, and your back to 1.33.0013d without any 1.5 rooting fuss.

If it does not flash properly (it isn't yet compatible with the HTC Dream) then simply follow the instructions to reflash CWM or AmonRA. If you flashed this without a working rom, then you have to reflash the .nbh and start over.
Liberty. Its probably the only sense rom that supports 1.33.0013d and actually works :P
But it sucks unless you do some tweaking
Specifically, get the dalvik-cache off ext.

Not completely start over.
The orange nbh I mentioned earlier has an engineering spl, so you can go right to flashing spl, radio and recovery with fastboot flash
