DONATE TO ME
Default Evo View 4G Sprint Data Fees?

For those of you who subscribe to the 4G data plan on Sprint:

A) Is there a way to get a data plan without a contract?

B) How much are the govt fees/taxes/surcharges etc on a $19.99 plan? I can see the plans but not all the fees/taxes/etc until after signing up.

In response to question B: Count on an additional ~$5 month (but almost $3 of that for me is "San Francisco City 911 Tax," so YMMV). "Sprint Surcharges" are $1.90: I assume that doesn't vary by geographic location?

Sprint surcharges should be same no matter the area. Government fees will vary. I believe the max is 15.3% .

As for the first question, theres at least one thread here already about that, if you seek it out, you'll find that sprint offers an official no contract rate that is pretty expensive. Some people have reported success getting someone to add it to their acct without a contract on the regular plan rates. Just keep in mind that it isn't officially an option so don't get frustrated if the care rep can't do it. Just hang up and start over. I can def confirm that we can't do it without a contract in the store.

The carrier that implemented an "actual bytes used" plan would have a hit on their hands, especially if it were reasonably priced. Imagine only paying for the data you actually use, and some months paying nothing at all, because you were on WiFi the whole time. That's a plan I would consider. And by its nature it would be transferable, so you wouldn't be locked into any particular piece of hardware for 2 years.

You can sign up for day use, week use or month use without any contract. That way if you are traveling you can utilize it. I feel one can tether to his/her phone and avoid this but it might be useful to some.

I tried this out for a month and it works well, and can even utilize 4G where available.

Yes, but you may not be able to do so with a representative. I was told by Sprint rep, that because I did not purchase my View from Sprint, I was not eligible for off-contract "pay as you go" data plan. So I just activated myself over the air. When I opened, SprintZone for the first time it gave me the option of choosing Monthly or contract. I had now problems activating for 1 month even though I did not purchase my View from Sprint. I went with the over-priced $49.99 option to test it out. I read somewhere that the Mobile Hot Spot feature is not available on the lowest tier $19.99 plan. Think I will test it next month.

If you are asking about the Monthly (non-contract) plans, all fees and taxes are included (at least with my FL billing address). Advertised as $49.99 and that was the total.
