Hmm, I did a fresh install of 2.6.8 since I was coming from 2.5.4 and ran into the same problem with gmail. Downloaded the app from the market and it just kept backing out as soon as I would open it. Did the usual, clearing data for the app, uninstall/reinstall, restore from titanium, and nothing seemed to work. Finally went into titanium backup and turned it into a system app and that worked for me. Been able to use gmail ever since.

So uninstalling it and flashing the Gapps fresh won't fix it?

I prefer single, it just seems easier to follow. Although just fix it to double if that's easier.

Strange that gmail backs out like that if its not a system app. I guess I'll include gmail in my future ports. Apparently, any gapps that aren't installed as a system app will do this. Are there any other gapps that you guys would like included in the ROM?

I prefer dual. It makes the ROM unique and I like to see both so I know what's up.

I'm also having issues with the new theme manager. Firstly, it won't convert my custom themes into usable packs anymore—it just tells me that the theme format is wrong. Second, it won't apply any elements within a theme at all. I've tried to apply it as a whole as well as individual elements…no go. Restarting doesn't do anything. Would it work if we replaced the theme app with the previous version?

I would think that would work. I haven't tried it though. I'll test the old theme manager later and if it works, I'll use that in my ports until miui fixes the new one.

Just replacing with the 2.6.1 ThemeManager.apk didn't work, it just fc'd. I'm guessing that there were some more intricate changes in the framework.

I tried playing around with it some more, and wiped data/re-flashed the rom (I was on Dev kern before), and theme manager worked again. I changed my theme and then reflashed Dev, and now everything seems to be working again. Really weird.

I'd just like to comment that despite all the negative reports I haven't had ANY problems on 2.6.8.. Gmail and Theme Manager seem to be working fine for me right out of the box.
