Tried to reflash the ROM and problem still existed.

Backup whatsapp with titanium backup and uninstall, then download from play store

anyone tried to modify the lcd density by editing the build.prop file?

i reduced the lcd density to 180/190/200 but not happy with the results - the phone dialer doesn't scale properly, among other things...

any one has any experience?

You really need a rom designed for multi dpi. If it isn't I'd not bother tbh. Up to you however .

Dialler doesn't suport dpi lower than 240, that's why you have this results. Try ex dialler from market.

5 days battery life, that's a laugh.

I take my phone off charge to go to work at 07:15 and I am down to between 30-40% by the time I get back home at 17:15 and if too low have to put it on charge before my battery saving kicks in at 30%.

I have a problem then I am unable to open the stock messenger app. It says "the activity can't be launched" I tried GO SMS it didn't allow me to view any messages. Even those I sent please help me.

Did you try open from homescreen or app drawer? If not work from homescreen, remove it and install it again. Should work.
