*update* I ended up calling Att and tech support. After some trouble shooting he had me put my Simon into another phone to "wake it up, or un freeze" it then put back in my phone. I then got 18 texts when phone turned on. He said sometimes the Sim card gets confused from switch between towers and locks up. So really was an easy fix. Hope this helps anyone else. Thanks for suggestions!

Interesting. I had something similar happen a few months ago, and AT&T tech support was able to reset my account from their end, but if it happens again I'll try this trick. Unfortunately my only backup phone is an iPhone 3GS. :P

Default boot screen, rom manager

CM9, loading with rom manager. I tried wiping nothing, wiping dalvik only, and finally wiping dalvik and data. CM9 loads up but there's just the animation screen. Have to recover back to stock every time. Am I doing something wrong?

This is the first time I've tried to flash a rom, so I'm new to this, but I thought I had done my homework. Not a huge problem since I have everything backed up and can restore easily, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

It's been a while since I rooted, so I don't remember many details about it. OTA updates for the stock stopped working after rooting, which seemed odd, never bothered to figure out what went wrong there. I'm still running gingerbread, can't check the version right now since my phone is restoring.

I'm guessing that what I need to do is restore back to factory stock, OTA update to ICS, then root again, install clockwork mod recovery, install rom manager, backup, then flash CM9. I wanted to confirm that this was likely to work before I spend all that time, would be really pissed if I went to all that trouble and could have done an easier fix instead.

This is my one free night I've had in a while (due to the kid), this has been on my to do list for a few months now so I'm hoping to get this resolved ASAP.

Don't need to ota to pics at all. Just flash entropy gb kernel with Odin found in his thread. Boot to recovery and flash away.

Bottom of the Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_Skyrocket:_Full_Update_Guide at the cyanogenmod wiki (which I can't directly link to) listed it as an option.

Seemed easiest and I already had rom manager on my phone for reasons that I forget now. The wiki seemed like a good source of information. I certainly didn't know enough to know otherwise.

Problem number 2 - you are in the SGS2 i777 forums. We are not Skyrocket folks here...

Current: AT&T LG Optimus G (E970) RootBox / Houcha

ASUS Transformer TF101: EOS / KAT

Vizio VTab 1008 Stock Honeycomb (doomed to a rootless existence)

Still around: AT&T HTC Aria - Winsuk's CM10 Alpha6

Gone: SGS2 i777 and random stuff dating back to an analog Mitsubishi phone circa 1996.
