Default [Q] MTP vs Mounting SD

All I want to know is why everyone has such a hard-on for usb-mounting over MTP...sure it's slower but do you have any idea how many times I've had to do an error check/fix on my internal/external sd card after ejecting the phone on windows and then my phone only for it to have been corrupted somehow?

MTP is a safer, albeit slower option, but I honestly think that it'll save me time in the future having to do stupid scandisk runs because windows has balls'd up somewhere along the line.

What are your opinions on the matter?

i use usb mounting because, MTP doesn't let you see hidden files (.something files) and doesn't have access to /external_sd folder
"Thanks" are pretty much appreciated
