I am upgrading from a Desire that I could happily use one handed. The One S is a very similar width and felt comfortable using it one-handed in the shop today. I am size 8 (UK) gloves.

Thank you. This looks and sounds like the phone I'll go for. Once rooted Titanium will restore most of my app-data to the new device.

I'm also looking at a replacement for the Desire. Had it since a couple of weeks after release and it really starts to show signs of wear and tear.
Size and battery time are of concern. With all my apps and services running my Desire rarely lasts more than 4-5 hours on a charge during a typical work day. Guess a charge-pack will replace my current spare battery for this new device.

I read that someone on another forum had the X for a day but felt it was just a little too big for them to be comfortable with so decided to swap to an S.

Hi,

changed form X to S.
The reasons. Nicer feel, more comfortable in my hand.

Main reason: battery life.

I still have both devices and made a little test. I did exactly the same thing with both phones.

This was the result twice:
One X 20%
One S 45%

On the other hand there is no doubt about it that the display is sharper on the x.

Indication on battery status is erroneous on both devices.
Do not believe you still have the battery percentage that is shown after a night's sleep. Both devices showed the same percentage from the evening, but when you use it for a couple of minutes the percentage will abruptly fall.

Sorry,

yes it was:

One S 45%

Thanks for the correction!
I have corrected in the original post.

Yeah there's no doubt that the X will have the much sharper screen but once again if the S is even a little sharper than my Vibrant it's more than good enough. I really do not notice the pentile on my screen unless I hold the phone uncomfortably close to my face.

I just hope the colors aren't too off because that's what really bugs me.
Google Nexus 4 aka "All Black Everything" aka "Business in the front, party in the back."

Previous devices:
Samsung Captivate (sold)
HTC HD7 (sold)
HTC HD2 (broke)
Samsung Vibrant (broke)
Apple iPhone 4 (sold)
HTC Sensation (retired)

Got both a One X and One S side by side at the moment. I'm going to be selling the One X as it is just a smidge too big for my hands. I find it hard to navigate it properly with one hand.

I've noticed the One S is slightly snappier in the menus. The colours/blacks are better than my Sensation but with it being a pentile display the text and edges are not as smooth.

Really happy with the One S though and I suggest people handle both phones before deciding as this is what changed it for me.

I love bigger phones so I would get the One X but it seems the Ville (One S) is better (:
