Default Why are phones getting so big?

It seems that every new phone coming out on Sprint has a 4.5 or 4.7" screen. I felt like the size of the OG evo was great. It sucks that those of us who don't want to carry around a tablet have no other options except an iphone or a 'dumbphone'.

I kinda agree. I dont mind the screen getting bigger as long as the housing isnt bigger then the OG EVO. I will wait for the HTC One S instead as it is more along the same size as the Evo 4g

Default Given...

That they (the euphemistic they) are packing so much more horse-power under the hood of the newer phones, jamming in as many features as we demand, PLUS innovating a few more that we didnt even know we wanted PLUS awesome "cinema-like" displays is the reason phones are getting larger.

I understand your point, but we are demanding laptops in our pockets and thats what they are giving us.

Except much more and they won't fit in our pockets anymore.
My Evo is already a little uncomfortable and barely fits in some of my pockets.

With any sort of hard case, it is just a tiny bit smaller than a brick in your pocket.

Is that your phone or are you happy to see me?

Well people want bigger screens to do more, and see more. For gaming is nice, and a lot of people watch movies/stream on their phones, so that's a plus. In addition, you can have a bigger virtual keyboard which will make it easier. I'm 6'4 and have massive hands so not an issue here, but if you're 'tiny,' a big phone like that could be an issue.

The difference between the strong and weak willed is that the weak traverse with wounds covered up and hide when attacked, while the strong stride on with open hands and tears. Wounds bared open, and will continue to go on, even when broken at their core

4.3" and smaller is what they should be doing. I know females who had the evo and the galaxy s and are not gonna just say OK I'm ready for a 4.7" screen that I can barely hold. Nobody is doing that much gaming and streaming

i agree with the size of phones with a case on it is gonna be a bit silly.... so lets see manufacters coming out with better design and case materials lol
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Unlocked GSM)
Rom: [AOSPA 4.2.2]PARANOIDANDROID 3.1 (Mar28)
Kernel: [TUNA] [3.0.67+][4.2.2][DIAMOND v029**]AK

HTC EVO 4G
Rom:cm-7-20130101-NIGHTLY-supersonic
Kernel: Stock CM kernel - So my bt works :P

TALKING about closed beta releases of software is REALLY disrespectful. Reporting CLOSED BETA results to a thread that has nothing to do it is just a waste of the time and everyones internet so ****ing stop

exactly as stated earlier, they're easier to web browse, game, watch movies/tv, office programs and so forth. I get sick of having to constantly hit zoom or hold the phone a foot from my face.

I like the size of the Samsung Note.

Yes, bigger may not be pocket friendly. And it may look redicously while actually using the phone, but how many people use the phone more than text/IM or ear piece?

The one knock, can't exactly hide the fact you're using the phone while driving down the road.
