Yeah that brightness issue is a really inconvenient one...

Power + Volume Down for about 20 seconds has to reboot into HBOOT. If you've waited 1 minute and it's still not doign anything, try hooking it up to your PC and send the command 'adb reboot recovery'.

I think it might be more serious
Adb will not see the device.

Lsusb in terminal shows:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05c6:9008 Qualcom Inc gobi wireless modem (QDL mode)

Only my flyer is plugged in, it Is completely unresponsive. Just an orange led.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated .
The from was working amazingly for an hour or so then I stupidly turned the brightness down.
Now I'm stuck

And first pushing the volume down and then the power and holding both for a 10-15 seconds really doesn't work?!, because that is a hardware programmed reboot, I always works perfectly for me in every weird situation(I once did the same thing :P) And if not, you have the correct drivers installed on your computer in order to let adb do it's work?

Correct, volume down and power do not work.
I had the drivers installed on my windows box because I downgraded from HC using it before flashing MIUI.
ADB does not work on my Linux laptop or my IMac either.
Windows makes a noise when I plug it in, but it says drivers are not installed and windows can't fund correct drivers, I have even tried reinstalling the drivers, same response

Get a PC without HTC drivers and stuff, download the Universal Naked Driver (google it, it's on XDA), extract it somewhere. Connect the device to the PC, and let it search manually for the drivers in the folder where you extracted the UND. It will install the driver. Then get Adb, and use 'adb reboot recovery'. This has to work.

Also, another test: make sure the device is connected to your PC, and keep Vol Down and Power pressed for a minute. If you heard any sound from your PC regarding a USB connection (either unplugged or plugged), you know that you triggered it into HBOOT.

Thanks for your help.

I had no joy with the naked drivers.

But if i hold volume down and power windows makes the disconnect noise followed by the double disconnect noise (the noise it makes when the drivers are not installed)

I pretty much have the same problem as this

Hold on, hold on... You pulled the battery?
So you did the following: You opened up your flyer, cut the tape wires off, cut the battery wires off (cause it's wired on the motherboard) and then you fixed it?

Yeah, I do have an idea on what may have caused your flyer to try and commit suicide. You're on the wrong bloody device's forum.
