Default Official tricks/tips for Lumia 900

Use this thread to post tips and tricks for the lumia 900.

I've noticed the preloaded Tango application doesn't do 3g/4g video calling. It only offers WiFi video calling. If you download the Tango application from the marketplace it offers video calling over 3g/4g/wifi. Thought I pass the word on.

Post any other tips and tricks throughout this thread. I will try to compile them all here in the first post.

I just had a problem with my data. Not sure what Te problem is. So basically all I did was turn the data off. Soft reset. Power back on. Turn data back on. Soft reset. Power back on and it works again

Default Diagnostics menu

If you dial ##634# then you will have the nokia diagnostics launched and it will also appear in the list of apps.
I am using this currently for checking the battery percentage.

Turn your wifi off once you but it. Connect via data. Then turn wifi back on. Works fine and no need to soft reset or anything weird.

If you press and hold the back button for a few seconds it will bring up a window for each open task that you can flick through. There is no real way to close those tasks though, other than selecting them and then hitting the back button until you get back to the home screen.

Multitasking is not really a strong point of Windows Phone, the plus side to that is that background apps are, in most cases, not really running, they are essentially suspended so they aren't burning memory or CPU cycles.

Settings, Applications, background tasks will show you a list of apps that can run in the background. You can also set them to not run in the background and save power.

In my opinion, mind you I've only had the phone 3 days, the Facebook app needs a complete rewrite. It's nowhere near as fast, smooth as the iOS / Android versions. I can't even find a way to look for a friend/page on the blasted app. If it's there, then that one falls on me.

It's not always 'on', updating it seems. I really liked the Android version, as it would show a tally of how many updates were available since I last checked it. This one I have to start up every time. If I'm doing something wrong, please correct me.
