At the point where you do a "Full Boot", did you let the phone boot up to the Android Home screen prior to doing another boot into Fastboot USB?

Or do you reboot to recovery and Fastboot USB at this point without ever letting the new rom boot fully?

I'm getting conflicting information about how to do this, and it may be significant in causing my problems.

When I do the FastBoot USB command I get an error message for the second part. Is this usual? HOw to I correct it?

I believe u have to flash the rom and then straight reboot in bootloader->fastboot and flash the boot.img
Then reboot normally and enjoy

For some reason I had believed the command to be

fastboot flash hboot boot.img

when it should be

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Suddenly my sound works correctly without rebooting. Off to check a few apps now.
