To the guys talking about notification LEDs not blinking, I'm with you. Not for emails, calendar events, or text messages. I use GOSMSPro for messaging (sms and mms) and don't even have the stock one installed. Red LED for everything but texts, those are blue. None of them are showing up.

So I switched this morning (PR v2.2 + CleanGB kernel) and everything seems great... except I don't have ADB access.
Mass storage works, so I don't think it's a cable or USB port issue.
The phone even says "USB connected" in the notifications area, so I don't think it's a connection issue. I have tried toggling "Development" a couple times and also rebooting with it both on and off, but so far there is no love. The drivers are installed, I've used ADB with the phone previous to installing Peoples.
Separate but maybe (?) related, I haven't installed the "bloat" yet (is it needed for ADB to work?).
Is there any list of "must haves" (or maybe "dependencies" would be a better term) for each of the packages? I only really want a couple of the apps but I'm concerned that if I cut out as much as I want I'll inadvertently break something.
As a follow up to my prior post, I worked from home today, which means I have been on wifi all day. 7 hours, still at 92%, with tons of exchange server email running in the background. In a normal day on 3g/4g, I would be down to 65% or lower by now. This proves to me, at least, that the biggest drain on my phone is the strength (or lack there of) of the cell tower signal.

I made sure to leave in all the google sync stuff, calendars, and gmail in 2.2. Everything left should be pure bloat. There may be some duplicates in the FC09 apps in the OP as to what is already on your phone. So feel free to delete what you want from that zip before flashing.

OK, I did a little more playing with it, even removed and re-installed the Samsung drivers.
Still no ADB...
I noticed some interesting behavior that may (or may not) mean something.
With USB debugging turned off I get the Charge/Mass Storage/Tether prompt (as expected) and Mass Storage works fine if I select that option (haven't tried the other two).
With USB debugging turned on I get a "USB connected" message in the notification bar, and if I pull down and tap on it I get the prompt to enable Mass Storage (?!?!?!). This is the one you get after the initial Charge/Mass/Tether prompt.
I even tried it on a second computer that also used to work, same thing.

In order for my phones to connect to the computer for mass storage debugging always has to be off. Never connected with debugging on.

I would try a blackberry cable. Def sounds like this one is passing on.
