2 things to try:

A different USB port. Sometimes these phones don't like it unless they are plugged directly into the rear ports on the PC.

Uninstall the drivers and plug the phone in. Let Windows detect the phone and load the drivers.

Quick question...
Should I assume that any files (scripts?) I see in my init.d folder are running, active scripts? I appear to have about a dozen or so... swear I had installed clean version...not sure if they were carry overs from a previous install or not. Things seem to be working well...but I have seen a couple of small anomalies, and I'm wondering about those... Can I just delete them if I want them gone?
Thanks in advance...

Yes just delete those if your phone feels like its not acting normal... I have the "dirty" version cuz my phone loves tweaks... but not every epic can take it =].

running FC19 BML with this great ROM and for the most part it is running great. only 2 issues i have:
1. helix bootup only have sound no video
2. menu phone options, CWM recovery does not work. i get the triangle little droid error, so have to pull the battery. the workaround is power down and 3 fingers.

any suggestion will be much appreciated. thanks

I tried the BML version for 5 minutes (odin'd back to check it). I had the Apple zapping boot ani. As for the power menu recovery I did not try that. It may be the kernel. Flash the BML Samurai kernel to see if it fixes it. I will be putting out a FC19 version this weekend and will check these issues on BML before release.

Well, then never mind, I guess that's not the problem! Unless the contacts are dirty or something.

Yes, you can delete them; however, this may or may not fix your problem. In a lot of cases, the problems won't get fixed until you re-flash the ROM. You should re-flash the clean version of the ROM. You can also try re-flashing anything else, like a theme and its possible that might help (Kenny's lessblueboxes zip for example).

Try removing all the scripts in the system\etc\init.d folder. Wtogami gave me some insight that they did not use any scripts on CM9 because they buffered the 4G and would cause it to disconnect or not work correctly.

That's very interesting and seems to make some sense. Most of the data optimization scripts are made for 3g or wifi, but 4g is a very different animal. I live in an area with pretty good 4g coverage, but I guess most people aren't as fortunate.

It was Edfunkycold that caused me to talk to Wtogami about it. Ed is going to try it again this weekend to see if no V6 Supercharger keeps his 4G connected like it does on CM9.

I will add a third thing to try, since this just happened to me.

I ended up moving the contents of the sd card to my computer (using a card reader), reformated my sd card then moved the contents back over. Since then I can connect to the phone via the usb and it started working again.

the BML Samurai kernel fixed both issues. Samurai kernel's speed/performance will set my hair on fire, so I went with the CleanGB kernel, which fixed both issues also.

Thanks so much for your help.
