How to make your homescreen appealing

This thread is for helping each other by telling how they can male their homescreen more appealing.
Its not about posting your screenshots, but telling other users what apps or widgets they can use if they want this type of look or any other.

This is one of my homescreens which is more of a reminder screen. The app which i am using is called color note.
In this you can add simple texts and tasks, then use each 1 as a widget. This is very usefull for me.
