I fixed it. You have to go back to stock then use Android SDK tools to flash the twrp img.
Oh, also. Why don't the icons in CM11 change to 4.4 themed icons?

OP UPDATED FOR CM11.0 BUILDS:

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD TWRP 2.6.3.0 W/ SELINUX .ZIP and UPDATE TWRP(REQUIRED FOR 4.4):
Mirror 1: Download (Goo.im)
Mirror 2: Download (Crackflasher)
Flash the .zip file in your current TWRP to update to SELinux support.

BEFORE FLASHING ANDROID 4.4: PERFORM A WIPE + ADVANCED->FORMAT SYSTEM TWRP.

STEP 2: BETA BUILDS OF CM11.0 (SIMILAR TO UPCOMING NIGHTLIES):
Mirror 1: Download (Goo.im)
Mirror 2: Download (Crackflasher)

DO NOT USE ART YET. BUGGY AND WILL PROBABLY NEED A DATA WIPE TO RECOVER FROM

GAPPS (For Android 4.4/CM11.0 builds):
NEW! http://d-h.st/mDt (Hopefully goo.im will put up official Gapps soon)

Do I have to use your modified TWRP or can I use the regular 2.3.60 or 2.3.6.1? Also, what do you mean perform a wipe + advance + format system twrp?

Wish I could still have my kindle so I could test this.. Sadly I don't tho. Thanks Hash I'm sure everyone appreciates your hard work.

Quick question, how does this compare to 4.3.x and below, like does the supposed memory improvements seem noticeable. I haven't noticed much on my s4 or Transformer tab but they do how quite a bit more memory than the kfire

ART is still VERY buggy, so the memory improvements are only slightly noticable (for me at least). However, the future is very very good for 4.4 on the 1st Edition Kindle Fires, once ART issues are fixed.

Well that's great to hear. Maybe I can scrape together some extra cash and buy one on eBay for cheap. Also, what seems to be the issue(s) with ART?

You must use a TWRP which supports SElinux. If in doubt, just flash mine (I think the 2.6.3.1 update was also for SElinux but, I've been testing this build w/ mine so YMMV).

To perform the wipe I mentioned:
- Perform a TitaniumBackup of your apps+data in the current ROM you are using.
- Reboot to recovery
- Select "Wipe", and swipe to start
- When that's done, select "Home" and go back into "Wipe" -> "Advanced" and select "System", then swipe again.

All set. Flash away.

Mostly odex'd apps will break it. And if the crash causes some core service to fail, it's an endless bootloop that needs a data wipe to fix. :/

Art works fine on my Omni test build for some reason ... haven't done much testing but it certainly seems snappier when using Art.
