It does sound like the backlight issues that others are having. However, the specific issue that I have observed on the three One X devices that I have personally used (including my own) is that the issue mainly manifests itself at a lower (or minimum) brightness setting, and typically becomes noticed when the CPU is doing something. So, having a scrolling screen full of grey (or in fact white, or light blue colours too, I notice) and then gently scrolling the screen up or down slightly increases the flickering momentarily. So, in your case, the touching of the keyboard sounds like a similar situation. However, with medium or full brightness, I don't really perceive much of an issue. However, sometimes I do perceive some flicker. To be bluntly honest, using the One X is sometimes like using an old CRT monitor with a crap refresh rate.

Regarding OTA fixes, I'm afraid I can't agree that the fact that the 1.29 update apparently worsened the issue proves that it can also be fixed or reversed in software. Definitely agree that firmware has an effect on it, but the question to be answered is whether it's a purely firmware issue in the first place, or if it's an underlying electronics issue that is just exacerbated (or partially masked) by certain firmware operations. But fingers crossed it's the former!

Had the slight flicker u guys are mentioning.
With the 1.29 update though it seems that (until now at least) i'm flicker free.
Not anything major for me to start though..

been waiting for an upgrade from orange for a few weeks now. Kept saying they were out of stock on the one x. Rang them today again and they said they have had stock problems as htc have recalled a number of batches of handsets.

They are due to get a new batch on monday so should get one by wed. Will see if there are any signs on flickering on those.

Default Screen Flickereing

This is my second HTC one x and it also has the flickering screen issue (back light?) HTC have said to get an exchange however Vodafone are refusing to do so as they have a 7 day exchange policy (which they just created, legally should be 30) which is useless when the problem took about 7 days to manifest. Customer service refuse to go off script, driving me crazy!

Checking in with this problem.

It seems as if the white point adjusts for a millisecond or two. The effect can be seen pretty well with a grey background - I noticed it on the LivingNeko app (that little cat was on my Amiga in 1991, so it's on my phone in 2012!). The warmness of the grey just flickers to a slightly warmer one and back to normal again. There's also the slight flicker when browsing the Play store (which I wasn't sure if it was my eyes at first)

Still stuck on 1.28.401.9 here, patiently (or not) waiting for an update. Checking manually for an update doesn't make any difference so I guess I just have to sit and wait..

I'ved noticed that the flickering only happens when the screen brightning is @ 80/90%. Tried to switch it 100% and then i'ved noticed the flickering @ the background. But after applying it it dissapears, and only cones back when there's a light grey background. I'm on 1.29. Ht23xw.

You guys think I should bring it back?

Please wait patiently for an OTA that supposedly is going to fix the issue

1.29 finally arrived, same issue (though at least the colours seem more sensible now, unless it's my imagination)

Basically it flickers the greys to warm/yellowish whenever it's working on something.
