Just move, then set rw-r--r-- (644), as any other system app.

What is the real downside of using compresion when doing a backup? Besides time..

It scares me the word "corrupted" files...

But I need to gain space...

Tell me your experience...

I always used compressed backups and never had a problem.
I believe that the chance of corrupted files is lower with compression, because of the smaller number of clusters (inodes) needed to store the files.
What I'd really like in the new version of TWRP, with regards to size, is the skipping of pinned songs in google play music.

Hope this is the right place to ask but when i try to restore a backup none of my play store apps restore.... It restores my kernel and any other customizations I've done but no apps restore. It also makes me do the initial setup like when you do a full wipe. I've downloaded the most current twrp and it still won't restore, even tried different Roms but the problem persists....

Did you verify your backup includes /data?

:Edit: you're not doing a Facory reset AFTER restoring are you?
