It's just opinions here. No need to call anyone a troll. I found Barry's posting to be helpful and I am also thankful for any other people sharing their experiences like you. Facts are:

- He said that he had no buzzing when he sets the phone to max. volume and adjusts the volume using the dock. This is not perfect, but seems to be a solution to problems people have reported. It would be helpful and constructive of these people to try it and tell us if he was right or not.

- He says he doesn't have problems with overheating. You can believe it or not, I don't see why he should lie about that. I don't see why you should lie, either. The question here should now be why you have this problem and he doesn't. Maybe something's wrong with your phone or your dock. We don't know. No reason to start an argument, though.

- He explains what options you have for the behaviour of the phone when it's placed in the dock. I consider this helpful.

- He is obviously satisfied with the ability to connect bluetooth headphones. I don't own any, so I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of a plug for cable headphones. But I'm not angry because he is satisfied.

- He says that he agrees with people who wrote that the plastic insert is not good. He avoids problems by being careful when using the buttons. I guess when I get the dock (still no availability in germany ), I will try using double-sided sticky tape to stick it to the dock. He is not defending the insert, he just describes his way to overcome the problem and that it doesn't bother him too much.

- He obviously didn't understand your problems with the phone buttons lit at night. If the problem had been the display brightness itself, I wouldn't have considered dimming the display before putting it into the dock a good solution either, because it requires manual actions and is rather inconvenient. However, you could automate this using Tasker or similar apps. Maybe you should give it a try. It doesn't make the dock better (I agree that permanent screen-on and buttons-on is not well designed), but it may make it more useful for your purposes.

So he's not really trolling anyone here and he is right: a person with more than 1000 thanks can't be just an annoying troll. He implied that you didn't know how to change the wallpaper and he didn't understand that your main problem at night are the buttons, not the display. One could just assume good intentions and clarify these points without arguing.

That's it from my side...

Does anyone know when the dock will be available in Germany?
Here here, well said fella!

I *think* I saw on another forum that Germany was expecting the dock mid August but could just be a pie in the sky estimation!

On several occasions I've also found the phone stops charging at 69% in the dock.

Oooh that's odd. You shouldn't get a ring tone. I can't think what might be causing that. Are you on a stock HTC ROM? Do you have any unusual apps relating to power or battery (battery saving apps for example).

With the 69% charge issue. Are you seeing getting any flashing of the notification light (flashing orange and green), or any messages in the notification bar?

No, nothing unusual. It's a stock device. No battery saving apps, no power management apps, really nothing that exotic. When I pop the phone onto the cradle, the phone does seem momentarily very unhappy and gives me a blast of ringtone. And then again when I remove it. Maybe I'll issue a support request to HTC.

Yes, a rapid orange/green followed by a pause, then it repeats. This morning it made it up to 71% and was *very* warm! Removed from the dock (blast of ringtone) plugged in the USB charger (which really defeats the whole point!) and it charged upto 100%.

Something isn't right!

The flashing inidicator shows that the phone overheating and is halting charging to prevent damage. I have the same issue. If it is happening while you are in dock mode, try changing the dock wallpaper to a static image. You do this by touching and holding on the wallpaper. My phone overheats like mad when the weather wallpaper is enabled. It's strange because I can stream video with BBC iPlayer and it doesn't overheat. The live wallpaper and dock mode combination seems to hammer the processor.

Afraid I can't help with the other issue, but a support call sounds like a good idea.

Oh, that's insteresting. I also had the weather wallpaper. No changed, so hopefully that's the charging/heating problem taken care of.

But presumably your phone makes some noise when you dock/un-dock? I wonder how/where this is set? Hopefully support will be able to help although their response for most problems is - reset the phone! Not something I do lightly as I have it setup as I like now

No, mine doesn't make any noise at all when it gets docked. I've had a good look through the settings and can't find anything relating to dock mode notifications. Does it happen immediately or does it take a few seconds to start? If there is a delay it would indicate the dock app is triggering the sound. If immediate it would indicate a system notification.

One suggestion would be to try reapplying a complete sound set to see if that clears it. HTC hub servers seem to be down at the moment but you could try and download and apply a sound set with that. You could also try to apply an existing sound set through settings, personalisation, and sound.

For anyone in Germany:
I ordered at Computeruniverse last week, as their website showed it would be available within 3-5 work days. On Monday I got an email stating they were expecting it the same day, but when I called them yesterday they told me their supplier couldn't hold the date. Now they expect it for tomorrow.

Some german online shops now show the dock being in stock, but I don't know if you can trust that information. However, seems like it won't take long until it is finally available.

my dock arrived today from handtec. so far it seems to work fine. my one x in the dock-specific case fits well. the sound is quite good. usually i play caballe singing bel canto because a really bad speaker can't handle the range and will crackle at some point. i did not max out the sound as i would never listen that loud anyway, but i was certainly happy with output.

i then tried setting an alarm (which, to be honest, i had never done with my phone). worked fine. looks like my ipod and jbl will be making way for something smaller that fits better on my bedside table.

the hox does feel quite warm after playing music for awhile, etc., but it gets a bit warm doing that without the dock.

probably the worst aspect for me is that the dock reverts to the stock music player. this means some of the huge lossless files i was too lazy to convert to smaller mp3s won't play. oh, well, i knew i should have converted them anyway.

i have not tried playing movies/video. i don't have any on my phone and don't expect to have any in the future. so sorry no feedback there.

i first ordered in april. was it worth the wait? we'll see. but so far things look good.

Mine arrived yesterday, too. Didn't have much time to try it out due to working until after midnight, but I also noted that there seems to be no way to change the dock screen by adding/removing widgets, so only stock player is available?

As you can also let the phone start an app automatically when it enters dock mode: Is there a dock screen app which could replace the HTC dock screen and offers more customization?

I also noted that the inlay for phones without case is a bit loose - they could have made something that is firmly clipped for that price. I will probably stick it on the dock with two-sided tape.

Great idea. I've been looking around the house for super-glue but I think I'll buy some double sided tape instead.
