Default [Q] case and screen protector questions

I am almost convinced that I am getting the HTC One XL when it is released by AT&T. I am thinking about how hard the unibody polycarbonate construction is? Do we still need a case? I hate the additional bulk.

I am almost convinced that with gorilla glass 2, I do not want any screen protector. Whenever I have used the screen protector, I hate the "tacky" feeling of touching plastic on the screen.

What are your thoughts?

i never use screen protectors, i hate the way they look. the most i ever do is put a rubber or soft case on, just to absorb a drop. but then, i'm pretty decent with my phones.
lg incite-sucked --> htc pure-rocked --> iphone 4-sucked --> captivate-rocked --> atrix-rocked --> samsung note was ok --> htc one x rocks AND iconia a500 rocks so far

I never use screen protectors either. When it comes to a case, I usually use something really light like the Incipio Feather. The One X looks like it has good grip and doesn't seem to scratch easily (screen and case), so I think I will go completely naked with this one!

Polycarbonate is strong, but it is not invincible. Dropping onto gravel/concrete/asphalt will likely mar the finish. Same goes to gorilla glass. Screen protectors will save your phone from gorilla glass getting marred/scratched, but not much else. Cases will protect the phone from significant damage like drops onto concrete (assuming there are no sharp rocks to contact the screen), and likely stop much of the cosmetic damage from lesser drops.

I'd still recommend both, but if you don't need to worry about either, then go naked.
