Not gonna happen IMO. FAT32 is simple and works with windows. Most people wont be putting DVD images on their phone(especially with not external SD slot) so it really isnt an issue.
It really takes alot to convert a video file. So I was happy if I just through 10gb file to my phone n play it

Samsung is better at least in: it got better amoled display, mass storage mode, no cover on usb connector, better battery life.
XperiaS wins on processor speed, camera button, hdmi connector and internal memory size.
I dont know why anyone says this got good display? If i compare it to my 2 years old amoled desire, desire have better colous, better angles and lower power consumption.
XperiaS wins only on screen size, automatic dimming by lightning sensor is also simple disaster on xperias.
I have used to on mass storage mode on phones at least ten years, so this pc companion connection is something between bad joke and suicide "no phone detected, please restart phone...".
Display element is main reason (imho) to lousiest ever battery life on this device.

Just a few comments:
1. Mass storage is still available, just images don't have any thumbnails, however you can work with the files the same way. I agree though it should be available like before, and root should be visible.
2. I have no idea what is it about the screen. But both SGS II and Desire look like **** compared to X S which has exactly more real, not oversaturated colours. Samsung is the most plastic looking screen I've seen.
So we have some extremely different perceptions here.
3. Honestly .73 firmware for X S really fixes battery woes.

I had Samsung S2, amoled display is very nice but oversaturated colors. But still is a great phone.
Xperia S has a better screen size, brighter display and more powerful processor.
For the battery life, compare my S2 & my college Xperia S, almost the same.
I like both phone, so i'm buying it for my wife.
Xperia S Screen has better sharpness and colours, but amoled is better for using the phone in the dark (I've to run a screen filter app for using the xperia in my bed, my eyes get gazzled with white backgrounds like the one of this forum)
I can't agree with that.
I had a galaxy S2. And in the dark, the Xperia S win. Because we can set the brightness in a very low level. Even if the white are more white.

Use power control and dim your brightness... It even sets the device to auto brightness

For me the xperia s far out guns the galaxy s. The display eats up the Samsung's especially during video playback. It's faster and it's internals are built superbly. This phone latches on to my WiFi in less than 3 seconds. Ridiculous when compared to anything else I have used. Insanely fast and never drops the connection which if I'm honest was the case even with the X10.
The camera is superb and the TV launcher just seals the deal. Controlling your whole phone and not just pictures and videos like all other droids with Tv connectivity is truly remarkable. You can even connect game pads to the thing with the right docking station.
The galaxy s gained a phenomenal reputation last year because it's specs and performance far surpassed all its rivals.
As such until the galaxy s3 is launched, the community will find it had to move past a phone which they venerated to such a level and so they keep comparing it with newer phones favorably. The galaxy s2 is now yesterday's man and the coming months will bear that out. If you want to get a phone now, make sure you get something new especially if your going on say perhaps a two year contact.
It by no means has to be the xperia s if you have issues with it. Check out HTC or wait for the S3. That's if specs be your game.
For me the xperia has a lot more features to offer the mainstream user.
