Why the F*** are there no compatable apps for this phone?

Yes, I know I can use the build.prop trick to download files that "aren't compatable" even tho they indeed ARE compatable. My question is why is the market not letting me download a majority of new apps??

Did you alter your DPI setting?

Im having this same issue. I recently purchased Lookout so i could use all of its features and there is an update that is available on the apps web page. I got the same thing saying that it was not compatable with my device. Ive gotten this for a few others, a theme for go launcher ex and slacker radio

Hey man just realized somthing. Went to download instagram and it said it wasnt compatible. But if you go under google play store on desktop or browser you can install from there and have it install directly to phone. worked for me, hope u can get all the apps you needed to download now. Not sure why its doing this but it worked for me! good luck!

Dpi settings? Do tell...? I alerted my build prop to say I was a nexus s, downloaded modern warfare then reverted back.i'm not familiar with dpi

A lot of apps won't install in the event that you use a custom DPI setting. People commonly reduce the DPI value from 240 DPI to 200 DPI in order to make everything on the screen be rendered smaller. The problem is that Android market is expecting all devices to have 120, 160, 240, or 320DPI. An app developer has to go out of their way to support make the market understand that their apps support arbitrary DPI values (it's trivial, but most don't know how to do it).

What's funny is that most all apps will *run* just fine at 200DPI, but the market won't let you install them.

I am going to take a stab that you changed your resolution. For some reason the market won't let you install if your resolution is not default. I guess it is just meant to be a sanity check.
If this is the case, you will need to reset your resolution (I recommend ROM Toolbox) and then go into settings and wipe your market (play store) cash and reboot. I think the default is 240, but that could differ from device to device. I haven't checked what it is for droid 4. It was 240 for droid 2.
Pain in the dairy air because I do like custom resolutions. It just got so tiresome I finally just left it default. Would be cool to find a way to fool it some how.

The DPI for Droid 4 is 240 at stock. I have the same issue and had moved my DPI to 200. Most apps were fine and then prior to the release of the update (which I have not installed yet) the market started to not allow me access to apps which I had either previously had installed or wanted to that I know are supported. I will attempt switching the DPI back to 240 and wiping and will post my success/failure on here shortly.

UPDATE: - Restored stock DPI of 240 with Rom Toolbox. Rebooted. Opened Application Management in Settings. Wiped Cache and Date. Reloaded Market. Apps install/work fine.
