Everyone has the option to install FlashTool, it's just whether people take the time to do it.

Im a vodafone pay monthly customer whos htc desire broke, i bought an Xperia S via amazon uk so is not locked to any network. Im still awaiting update also....
I spoke to a Sony Xperia chat advisor and they said there is no scheduled updates for pc companion....

Seems simfree phones will take forever to be updated. The flashtool thing dosent work for everyone, ive tried and failed and have done it properly.
Installed the drivers via flashtool drivers folder, downloaded europe generic .73 firmware and put the file in flashtool firmware folder, run flashtool and select new firmware, screen pops up asking me to unplug phone etc, i power off then hold back (volume) button and plug back in and it says flash aborted.

Flashtool recognises phone no problem, correct model etc. Ive also tried various usb ports all with same outcome.

Cheers

I was told by Sony Xperia GB via twitter that update rolling out and I should receive update within next few days , that was last week. Not holding my breathe anymore plus I'm waiting to hear back off them about yellow tint.

I just started flashtool clicked on flash tab (lightning bolt) and chose flashtool then highlighted the ftf I wanted and it flashed I did get the pop up once, but it just disappeared and carried on OK before I could do anything anyway.

I caved and flashed a couple of firmwares.
I tried the central Europe one, but the battery life on that one was worse than my .67 one.
Currently trying the Norway generic. But so far, I don't see much improvement.
