I can be asking a silly question, but why are only a few afected? I mean, why only a few of us have problems with this radio.

Yeah i mentioned that earlier. I would have expected alot more people complaining, however im pretty sure before i upgraded mine it was fine. So maybe its just affecting some of the handsets after updating, i have no idea tbh

I was hoping to see what happens when i upgraded mine but annoyingly they've replaced my unbranded with a phone with o2 software on, any they dont release the updates until later on, so im stuck on 1.26 unless i unlock the bootloader and put a rom on myself

Have you tried the new OTA? They say that it has a new radio

I installed the update this morning and I don't see improvement. The signal strength is still lower than on my Desire.

What also remains a bit strange are the huge spikes and drops of the signal strength, sometimes it has two "bars" signal and than it drops to zero bars on the same location.

My One X also has very poor WiFi performance since about one week.
I already performed a router reset, but I still can't get more than 1 bar on my own room. My previous device (HTC Desire HD) had full signal strength on the same location.

I'm on base 1.29 (ARHD 5.1.0) and today I restored a Nandroid backup of my original HTC 1.26 ROM which I made on 9 April, but unfortunately the signal was just as bad as it was. (Radio wasn't downgraded I think) After that I did a full wipe and installed the latest Android Revolution HD again. Still no luck.

I am completely sure I had an excellent WiFi signal in the beginning. I even have some screenshots which I made a few days ago showing all bars from the WiFi icon.
Therefore, in my opinion the radio is responsible for this. So I think (and I hope) it can be fixed by a software update. I don't want to send my device back for replacement.
Let's hope for a quick update from HTC!

Without S-Off, the radio can't be changed, so flashing different Roms doesn't help. Still finding it strange that there are so few people complaining. First I planned on returning my device, but then I tested a One X of a friend who got it a week after me, and he had the same (weak) WiFi signal. So now my sample is n=2, but there must me a lot more. Also comforting to know you also were under the impression that WiFi was a lot better with the first radio. So for now our only hope is HTC fixing this fast.

I'm having this problem too, guys that are having it, are you using a WPA2, aes, or 802.1x secured mobile network?

Make sure you report the problem to HTC aswell, don't let them give you a template answer either, make it clear its a technical issue

Oh and one more thing, has a hard reset been performed by anyone?

Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

i have been experiencing this problem as well, though i took my phone back to phones4u and had them test it on their wifi and found it worked fine and it was my wifi router as it works perfect in my boyfriends house aswell.

My router is a netgear and it doesnt show any bars but it still runs pretty quick!

DONATE TO ME
I'm currently testing a 1.29 base for CoreDroid and the WiFi issues have finally stopped. Signal is much more consistent and in line with my previous Desire S. Not sure how HTC have changed things, but pushing the new boot.img over and updating to a new base gives me a new radio. Used to be on 1.1204.90.13

I'm now on 1.1204.104.14
