i don't backup my system with recovery tools.

i use an app (system tuner pro) for backup all my user apps and their settings. theses backp are stored on sdcard.

when i flash a new rom, i have to setup playstore and reinstall "system tuner pro", start it and restore all my environment...

Does it restore the app's data, too? I haven't tried that feature of System Tuner Pro. I use Titanium Backup Pro for what you're describing.

Also, what the guys here are talking about is a nandroid backup, not apps backup. They perform the backup from recovery where an "image" of your whole set up is taken. If anything goes wrong, you go to recovery and you can go back to that "state".

Yikes. Installed it through Goo Manager as instructed on the website.. Verification failed and now my tablet is stuck in Recovery Mode. Is there an easy fix?

Thanks.

update: rebooted a few times and managed to install the zip without verification error. But still reboots into CWM...

Odd. This should break you out of that though:

Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 count=13

I can't run the command as device isn't detected I'm probably doing something wrong though. Running the command with device in CWM.

update: turns out my drivers were messed up. Reinstalled the Universal Naked Driver and everything worked great. Thanks!

By the way, which AOKP did you try this out on? v1.3 with Reboot to Recovery or just normal? I'm curious to see if the former works OK on this recovery as it'll only work on repacked CWM...

Eyeballer: If you make backups it is currently dating them incorrectly. CWM had a similar bug. it is dating them as the 5th month currently when i make each backup. I'm assuming its similar to CWM because we talked about this in another thread and people there were getting incorrect dates as well.

would be awesome if we had the option to name the backup what we wanted before doing it like in rom manager.

@eyeballer: I'm still having problems installing TWRP. I managed to get out of CWM bootloop. I downloaded the blob and installed it with Android Emulator. But when I rebooted to recovery, it still went into CWM... where I got stuck in a bootloop again.

update (again): downloaded zip file and flashed in CWM again and this time it worked. Sigh, I don't know what the heck I did wrong, but at least all is well now ;P

If you get stuck in a recovery loop, flash the file attached in this post and it will do the "dd" command for you to get you out of the loop.
