It's an exe file you run on your pc. With the 2.08 and 2.17 ruu you will get hboot 1.5 but still s-off so don't freak out. You can leave it or downgrade back to 1.4 with a simple flash. After ruu you should just have to reflash a custom recovery, then custom rom and your set.

Some people have told me by running the RUU then redoing root/recovery/s-off whatever you may, they were able to resolve weird issues such as yours. http://goo.im/stock/shooter/ruu has all of the RUUs including the one required by the Hboot downgrade method.

If you have hboot 1.40, DO NOT USE this. It will update you to hboot 1.50....s-on. You could try one of the flashable RUUs in one of Freezas threads which doesn't upgrade hboot.

You shouldn't have to install a RUU. Use all of the wipes from previous post first. Place boot.img in ur adb folder. Use teams recovery to be simple use the sticky team recovery.img 1.1 place this file in your abd folder. Type flash recovery recovery.img in adb cmd. Then type flash boot boot.img through adb cmd to be safe in fastboot usb. Then you should be set to flash ROM and patch through ur team recovery. If I ever got stuck on white HTC this works for both hboots. Also if u plan on going back to stock same process. Just trying to help if you done this before i got nothing else to help with. Email chad like he said and just wait. Can you even restore back to a 2.3 ROM?

I was pretty sure if you originally used revolutionary you will not lose s-off.

The .exe formats the entire image from a to z as if it were a fresh install from the factory, meaning definitely s-on. Only a flashable RUU with hboot removed retains s-off.

Wrong. You don't know what your doing then. Rom runs great from boot manager.

Definitely will not lose S-off if you use that RUU (I did this myself); but you MAY have to use the HTC unlock method afterwards. That didn't matter to me because I was 1.5 HTC unlocked anyway (for a long time before brick/downgrade and then RUU'd). I just wanted to see what would happen if I ran the RUU.

If you have never HTC unlocked, the downside in having to do it would be they would have your info on file. Not sure if that matters or not.

Runs pretty good... but not nearly as smooth as a real install.

Yes I can flash and nandroid any other Rom but this one. I used all the wipes still getting that damn reboot at the HTC white screen.
