Umm is the OP of this thread still active here? I'm going to try this out on my Xperia Active ST17i but it's my first time rooting an Android phone and I might need some assistance while doing these steps.

Thanks! I think I will be doing it when I get home from work today. However, I want to ask, what will happen to my Google Play account? I've learned that once I link a phone to my Android account, I will not be able to remove its entry on my list of owned phones wen installing apps. So, if I do this, will I then have 2 Xperia Actives linked to my Google Play account?

Unless u use a custom rom nothning will happen to ur linkd device....
After rooting u can use play account as normal..

Oh, I just had another thought, is there any other approach other than OTA? I'm afraid the internet connection at home sucks so much that it would take me forever to finish the OTA. So is there an option wherein I can just download the .62 update and load it manually instead of OTA?
