I've spoken to HTC twice now on the phone over the last week, who CONFIRMED on both occasions that it was released to the UK on 1st May!

UK does come under "Europe" as an area after all!

---------- Post added at 12:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:04 PM ----------

I quote from the official HTC UK web site :-

1 May 2012
HTC One X Europe & Middle East Asia firmware over the air (FOTA) update

Android 4.0.3 update with HTC Sense 4.0. The new Build number after the update will be 1.29.401.7 (From the Home Screen on your device go to MENU> Settings> About phone> Software information> Software number).

I think some assumptions have been made by websites that Europe means every country in Europe. It looks like it might not be the case and even if it does, it doesn't mean we'll get it any time soon. My HTC runs fine on 1.28 anyway so I'll just stop checking and have a pleasant surprise if it one day turns up.
Sounds like the right plan to me. I'm on 1.29 and there really isn't much to get excited about...

I am very happy with my One X but always like to be running the latest versions of software. I had the yellow spots issue when I got my phone but that seems to have cleared up, only issue I have remaining is a flicker when I have a grey screen, such as when Google Play is loading. I was hoping 1.29 might fix that.
Unbranded HTC One X on Orange UK

1.29 is not a fix for the screen flicker. 1.3 or maybe even 1.31 will.

Hi All,
I have an O2 locked UK HOX that I'm about to return under the 14 day cooling off period due to the lack of updates to resolve the battery issue. Shame as otherwise its an outstanding phone!
What would I need to do to get 1.28 or 1.29 on my phone? Never rooted etc before and looking for an excuse to not return it and wait for a better deal!

Thanks
Ed

If you have a question, great - but DO NOT PM ME WITH IT!!!

Go to an independant such as Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U and get them to match your O2 deal. Their phones are unbranded which means you'll 'hopefully' be one of the first to get the updates. You will get 1.28 straight away but for 1.29 you'll need to flash a RUU or wait a bit longer.

I dont how much of this is true but I just had a chat with the HTC customer service - Ryan B and it seems that the update for UK was pushed only two days back.

Ryan B: Hi Mike, thank you for contacting HTC Support. How may I help you today?
Mike B: Hi Ryan
Mike B: I was wondering when will the UK get the 1.29 update?
Ryan B: We are pleased to announce that HTC have released version 1.29.401.7 for the ONE X across Europe and UK.
Mike B: Or will we get the 1.30 update directly
Mike B: yeah but so far I havent come across anybody who has got the 1.29 update in the UK
Mike B: its been almost 2 weeks since the May 1 rollout
Ryan B: The update has started to be released in the UK as a few devices have been updated already.
Mike B: So when did the update actually get released for the UK then?
Ryan B: I believe two days ago but we have hit some delays as the original release date was the 4th of May.
Mike B: So just two days back....
Mike B: Alright I guess we just have to wait then
Mike B: So will phones get updated in a particular sequence of IMEI numbers
Ryan B: Yes the update is sent in serial number order.
