Sorry to keep harping on about this – I realise that there is not a quick and easy fix or it would have been done already, but I have just two problems with CM9 as it currently stands, and want to know if anyone knows a workaround to them/what other people have done to minimise these issues.
1) Volume/notification bug. This is the issue where the music volume is greatly lowered when certain types of notifications occur, and then only partially raised again afterwards. The end result is that it is effectively not possible to listen to music if frequent notifications (email arriving, SMS, Viber messages, etc.) occur.
There are reports of some people no longer having this issue after some recent updates, but I have not noticed any change.
My question is: Does anyone know any way to work around this issue? What notification settings, music player, etc. do the people no longer experiencing this issue have?
2) S-Pen alignment in Landscape mode issue. This is the issue where in landscape mode the S-Pen alignment is wrong/backwards, making it difficult/not feasible to use it accurately. I can’t confirm if anyone else has this problem or if it’s just me – but it does mean one of the major features of a Note – the S-Pen, isn’t usable in landscacpe. Touchscreen Tune, which might be able to fix this problem, doesn’t work on CM9 – according to its dev., because:
Quote:
“It looks to be a problem of CyanogenMod, it is not properly calling driver to notify that screen orientation changed, so settings for landscape are not applied (when phone is in landscape mode, driver still thinks it's portrait and applies portrait settings). Actually what samsung firmwares do - is detect when screen orientation change and call wacom driver IO control function to notify driver, that other settings should be applied.
This is a definition of what should be called:
static DEVICE_ATTR(epen_rotation, S_IWUSR|S_IWGRP, NULL, epen_rotation_store);
passing here 0..3 for screen orientations”
|
(which sounds to me suspiciously like the cause of the original bug… that it doesn’t know it’s rotated properly when it rotates?)
So my question here is: Is there any workaround for this issue? Is there any way to get my S-Pen to work properly in landscape mode? I don’t care if the button doesn’t do anything etc., but I do need the ability to be able to write/draw accurately with it.
Once again, thanks for all the hard work – I love CM9, just need to figure out how to get around these two issues and I’ll be set.
