why would development be stopped?
codecs are only needed for HD, do we NEED it for the phone to work? no, so nothing is stopped, we might just never see HD videos on the phone, but who wanna see 720p/1080p movie on a 320*240 screen?
lots of things can still be improved, miniCM9 is still a young ROM

Are you kidding? Without the codecs we can't even watch SD video let alone HD, anything higher than Youtube LQ (Which is highly compressed 320x240) completely lags on the device, nevermind that the lack of codecs ALSO limits the usability of the video recorder.
