I just got my lumia 900 in white about 3 days ago. I did notice there was a purple hue on the keyboard, but i only noticed today when it flipped back to normal as i was looking at it, I did however put my brightness on low yesterday but i also have auto on, i thought it was something to do with the auto adjustment of the backlight, i walked from a dark room into a bright one when the hue disappeared.

Also i saw in one of the posts on the 1st page a mention about a green dot on the box.. Mine has this green dot, but my device also was on the latest firmware out of the box, where i think they said they had no dot with the latest firmware. No clue what the dot is for but it seems irrelevant to me

This issue is to be fixed in another firmware update. The "Green Dot" was for the data issues.

The green dot was supposed to signify phones that had been updated to the latest firmware which fixed a connectivity issue. When I finally got a phone without the purple screen issue the box did NOT have a green dot. I don't know if they simply ceased putting green dots on the boxes or if they just forgot on mine. It had the latest firmware and didn't have any cellular connection issues. I wasn't sure the green dot had any relevance or not. It was just a piece of data that I included in case there was a trend.
