What is dropbox 2 going to provide as a point of difference? Faster syncing I hope.

Fun, promotion and a reflection of how the DropBox team use creativity as part of there company culture
Keeping up the good team spirit eventually will lead to new ideas.
Google Labs is another example how to promote good ideas ...

Sync time is low by design I think, preventing unnecessarily filesharing among the masses (like new firmwares and movies)

On top of your free 2.5 GB and storage from different ways of getting even more free space ... ˝GB making a initial picture upload is just one way ...
I wan't mind 5GB on top of my 23GB
