Leaving for London on the 16th, hope we get unlock before then as I have a SIM card ordered already! .....

We are on pace to have unlock by the end of this week. If we could get root, and unlock this week we are in pretty good shape overall.

Bootloader unlock will take some time but these two steps can hold me over and prevent me from buying the Rogers model to replace my AT&T unit.

Yeah, I definitely wasn´t expecting Root this close to launch... I guess we just have to be patient for a few more days.

People...Is there a chance that there are no Unlock Codes for the HOX ?
cuz my bro wants to buy the devices today, we dont mind waiting but we dont wanna be stuck with HOXes that dont work

As a quick follow-up, a nice guy from the executive committee from AT&T called to follow-up on my complaint. At this point he said they can't do a one-off unlock for me because it would likely cause a cascade of additional requests. However, they have heard from numerous people about this complaint and they are going to look into a potential shift away from the 6-month exclusivity period that is currently enacted.

He has committed to calling me if anything changes, however I hope to be unlocked by the time he calls me back.

The 100% worst case scenario is that AT&T holds to its commitment, and unlock codes aren't made available until that date. This is very unlikely to me, and while it make take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks to unlock, I don't really see it taking longer than that.

I think we are just dealing with a brand new phone and it isn't possible to unlock just yet. I can't think of another HTC phone that ever restricted you from being sim unlocked.
