Lightbulb [Solution] [ICS] Solve battery drain issue on 4.1.A.0.562 [05/07]

When I updated my Neo V to official ICS .562 firmware, battery was draining tremendously even when in sleep-mode. I left it one night and noticed the battery drain was about 20% in 8hrs.
After trying different kernel for ICS (viz. Stock, Nightelf ICS RC2 & Shardul_Seth kernel) there was hardly any improvement in the battery drain issue.
Due to this I was thinking to switch back to GB 2.3.4 where battery drain was pretty much less.

Before doing that I thought of changing the baseband for testing the battery drain issue. I used the baseband 64 of 4.0.2.A.0.62 version and my battery drain was improved a lot better.
I am currently using Shardul_seth kernel which is based on the Stock kernel only. But it will sure work on Stock and Nightelf kernel also. Please share if it works for you guys.

Steps to follow:
1. Download baseband 64 (based on .62 firmware)
a. Link 1
b. Link 2
2. Download Flashtool (Only if you don’t have one)
a. Link to download flashtool
3. Flash the baseband file onto your phone using the flashtool.

Thanks to Shardul_seth and Night-Elf for providing the kernel for ICS.
You can visit their original thread to download the kernels.
a. Shardul_seth kernel's original thread
a. Night-elf ICS kernel's original thread
Thanks to aimcr7, I thought of changing the baseband for battery drain issue. (You posted solution for GB using the same concept of changing the baseband and kernel)

If you want to thank me just press thanks button.
Happy flashing.
Use it with your own risk.

Talking Yes its better!

There is definitely a huge improvement in battery life with stock ICS with 64 base band. I kinda arrived at the same solution by accident...but when i did arrive...I thought i let it remain for a few days and see. And yes you are right vinod, its definitely better.

The only difference is that I used Sirkay's ICS 1.1 kernel and I am yet to see the famous ICS lag.. which was the case when i updated the phone to stock ICS with stock kernel. I hope more users will try out Sirkays' kernel...It looks good..plus you can oc to 1.5 to 1.6 ghz with no crashes or FCs.

I'm loving the Neo V ICS experience...the way it is meant to be. Thanks vinodgajaria for confirming that baseband 64 is better on battery and for your instructions. Other users please post your results too.

I am on official ICS but a different kernel..XNeo1.1 by sirkay.. but the original post mentions it would work for stock kernel too. And since I am on unlocked bootloader (TP method, DRM and Track Id available), I cant really give a response to the locked bootloader query but I wouldnt think that is a problem. I think I have seen some threads dedicated for baseband flashing and they discuss the bootloader issue there. However, to answer your other query, I havent come across any lag in scrolling in between screens or any fc with wifi.. but do keep in mind I have overclocked to 1.5ghz and I'm using Sirkay's ICS kernel and I used a completely different method to get to this combo..that is official ICS, Baseband 64 and XNeo 1.1 kernel.

Sorry for side tracking the real issue...The battery backup is awesome..No more drain. 15 hours straight on 3g network with auto sync on..background data, brightness 30 % or less, liberal use of youtube..tune in radio, heavy use of what's app with video and image uploading, no browsing though..atleast not enough to count..and good use of the music player... and I have a fiancé , so logically add to the stats a good number of lengthy calls as well. Cut to the chase the phone was always in use! Current battery level at 38 % and discharging..This should be the baseband working as kernel shouldnt ideally be doing anything to increase battery life..instead with overclocking it would be adding onto the battery drain. However governors are there just for that.

Alright thanks for your reply, but 1 more question, does it have effect on supercharger?

Now everything is going good on ICS. But still sometimes music player and games lag a lot. I am missing the game playing like I did when on GB.

Thanks Vinod, you saved me from lot of trouble and reflashing stuff etc,
I was frustrated by the poor battery life, but Now after downgrading the basebad to 64, the magic is back
Cheers

Can you tell the steps to flash. Because I did it now battery life is even worse. From 85 - 73% in mere 20 min. Bad thing about this is I haven't touch the phone.
