lets back to topic...
@carl: we already have a lot of modified kernel. irfan have dualboot kernel and another one with a feature to run script on boot. mikstev also have a modified kernel with droidwall support feature. mikstev and irfan is also have colaborated to enable init.d support in stock kernel (you can find the detail in mikstev's post about droidwall). I think you should put them on your post. irfan is specialized in kernel developing. It's bad since only a few of us recognize his works.

Very glad this is a sticky!

Carl I think you are doing a good thing here mate and I totally agree with HCFroyd that you are doing this in good faith.

I really don't see the point for people to complain about intellectual property rights *blah, blah blah* etc. The work is referenced but I guess some people are just touchy

For a noob, a thread like this might stop them from posting even more nonsense in our thread because all the info is accessible from one place and it is BIG bright and clear! Our threads are actually a mess with a lot of info scattered all over the place so despite what anybody else says, you definitely have my vote mate.

Don't be discouraged and keep up the good work

ASK ORIGINAL DEV/OP PERMISSION BEFORE RECREATING OR MODIFYING THEIR HARD WORK...RESPECT THEM...
It will, I don't have any plans of re-creating the whole guide anyway . Perhaps some are over reacting to my SGY for dummies cover

I believe that this thread is created in good faith, there are tons of tutorials that you can post here that doesn't require permissions. For example: general related threads, how to's, guide to theming, etc. Those will be covered by fair use law. This thread is not a poor derivative of other threads nor it aims to supersede the works of others for profit. I think this thread's sole purpose is to enrich and help others by compiling useful information about the subject at hand.

I think that you have done great in crediting your sources, therefore this thread have my vote to get stickied.

PS. I would like to ask you to remove chobitsdigitalis as your recommended rom, having a link to my thread will suffice. Though your opinions and view are respected, let us make this thread as "general" as possible

Thank you very much for your Good Work! Excelsior!
Thanks! Already revised as per request and another thanks for asking this to be stickied.

Already included inrfan's kernel. As for other guides and threads, I'll read more. Kinda busy with other stuff

That is exactly my point, the whole section is a mess and we need to prevent others from creating more junk threads to reduce the work of moderators

Glad you guys give positive feed backs, hope this would help others.

I will always see to it that this thread is updated. It is nice to see updates everyday but we can't expect something new for SGY every waking day of our modding life.

And also, I must see to it that the updates are stable and not in testing phase, though I might post kernel links that requires testers.
