S2 style MTP on S1?

Hey guys,

So when I plug in the I9000 i'm greeted by that annoying USB port (once ive quit every activity) and some ****e about clicking the home button closing it. Great, it's a right pain in the backside.

Would it be totally impossible to load the MTP application from the S2 on the S1? The reasons are:
It's much quicker as it doesn't require you to leave the front activity.
it doesn't render your phone unusable while connected... As in, it doesn't leave a big stupid looking USB port on your screen with some crap about Kies or Media Mode and how pressing the middle button will kill it.
and most importantly, it's compatible with my car stereo hahah while MTP on my I9000 is totally useless and incompatible with my car so I have to switch USB mode.

Is it completely impossible?

CM9 supports it. Altough you need to edit some config file I think.

So there is no way I could somehow drop the MTP Application from the S2 on the S1? It's so disappointing that I'm having to look at other ROMs for something as trivial as this. My old Nokia 5800 could bloody do this. I swear that my old INQ1 could do this too. Yet, an S1, one of Samsung's flagship phones less than 2 years ago, is unable to handle MTP and normal processing simultaneously. New firmware it is then. Looking at ICS roms right now.
