I'm hard on my phones and they get dropped a lot! Just bought new Razr and had to have a good case that wasn't too bulky but did the job. After searching online and in a couple stores the Otterbox Commuter is what I settled on. I'm very happy with it, it makes the phone just the right size and grippiness to hold and it still fits in carpenter pants side pockets! The Defender was too big and way overkill and wouldn't fit in pockets as well. My phone has been dropped from about 3 feet high several times onto concrete and asphalt and no damage. I installed the included screen saver stick on peice, but have since bought an anti-glare version for $2 shipped from Amazon.

Bought my Otterbox Commuter at local Verizon store for about $25 out the door, I've been a customer for years and I asked the guy if he needed my phone number and he said sure and gave me great deal on it.

The other case you mentioned is interesting but hard to see exactly how it's made and I don't need the thing to prop it up, I'm sure I'd break it off anyways.

Go to the store and check em out, see which looks better for your use, but I'd go with the Otterbox again. I see they also have a Reflex Series which is between the Commuter and the top level Defender, might be good for you. Here's the comparison of all the Otterboxes:

dangit I cant' post outside links yet.

I have the commuter and just bought the trident aegis case. I like both but for style I'm digging the trident. Has more silicone so it's got a nice grip to it. Plus it has plugs to cover the Usb and headphone jack as well as the ad simple card slot. The commuter doesn't have an opening to allow access to the simple sd slot so the Trident for me is better. Either case is great though.

I have the commuter case but I also ordered the defender case on Amazon. I need the belt clip. My current belt case is a leather one and the commuter just barely fits in it. It's pretty snug and can be hard to remove when I need to answer a call. Haven't missed a call yet, but it gets a little aggravating trying to pull the phone out of the case and then put it back in. I've almost dropped the phone a couple of times trying to put it back into the belt case.

Otterbox for me. Never have had an issue while on the truck.

On a side note, 911.. Lol. Where I live, 911 is a glorified transfer truck. I've had better calls on the transfer truck than I've had on a 911 truck. Sad isn't it?

When i first bought my Razr i bought the otter box defender case right away, it worked really well for protection but i found that the always got dust under the built in screen protector... and the silicone/rubber part being on the out side made it hard to go in my pocket. now i have the trident Kraken case, its a little more bulky then the otter box defender, but feels like it would protect my phone that much more too. I also like the other option for the Kraken case, kick stand (also works MUCH better the the defender case!!!), wind shield mount, tripod mount, etc...

I cant help if the case actually works... the only time i dropped my phone is when i decided to go with no case for a while. very happy nothing happened!

So, which case did you end up getting? I bought the commuter case and it should get here early next week. I'm a LEO and usually just keep my phone in my shirt pocket.

Looks like eBay has the Defender case for RAZR's for like $32 and I trust it's genuine because the seller is top-rated. Can anyone say it really does make the phone bulky? I'm getting a RAZR MAXX on Monday, however I wasn't really planning on getting a case, as I'm not clumsy with my devices. I can show you the back of all my iPods

I got the Defender case for my Maxx from ebay. It arrived without its built in screen protector, but I was going to remove it and replace it with a non glare one anyway. I had the defender on my droid charge, felt it was too bulky and replaced it with a slim holster-case combination. It slipped from the holster, smashed the screen and that's why I now have the Maxx. It leaves the defender during docking sessions only.
