I'll give you advice in the middle of the road. Wipe the device.... and load a rooted stock rom..... DO NOT have a custom rom on it...... that way its a suttle root.

No need to unroot. I just gave same advice on the Evo 4g forum last week. Dude didn't have any problems. 2 or 3 other people chimed in saying they has no problems returning rooted phone either.

******but it probably is a good idea to flash a stock-ish ROM on it. When I take my Evo into sprint for servicing, though, the techs and some sales people love seeing android 4.0 running on my old Evo.

I'm just gonna wipe and unroot mine because whoever gets the phone next and wants to root it will have to figure it out for him/herself.

The Blue Man Group?

It's not illegal to root your phones. It does void your warranty, but the most BB could do is say "Sorry, we can't accept rooted phones." They would have no reason to call the cops, and if they DID call the cops and detained you until the cops arrived, you'd have a hell of a lawsuit because you've done nothing wrong and certainly nothing against the law.

But it sounds like BB accepts rooted phones for trade-in anyway.

Edit: It just occurred to me that BB employees wear blue shirts. If that's what you meant, then ignore me.
