Wifi connecting with 802.11b only?
Hey guys, hope someone can help.
Short version
Phone only connecting to home wifi with 802.11b. Very poor range and performance. How to force connection with 802.11n or g?
Longer version
I've had poor wifi performance for a long time, and was my inspiration to upgrade to CM9 just recently. I'm loving CM9, but I'm still experiencing dodgy wifi.
I've been looking at the router admin, and it shows I'm connecting with 802.11b only. Here's what the router is saying:
edit: Okay, apparently I can't post outside links to show you the wireless device connections screenshot. Here's what the router says about all the wireless devices connected, my device is at the top (hope the formatting holds up ok)
MODE RATE SIGNAL (%)
802.11b 11M 18
802.11g 36M 18
802.11n 65M 38
802.11n 58M 26
802.11n 130M 40
802.11n 78M 18
Mine is the only Android device in the house.
Curiously, this is AFTER I changed the router to mixed 802.11n & g (not b at all). I've searched xda and google for someone with similar problems but to no avail.
The router is a D-Link DIR-632, though I had the same wifi range and performance issues with an old router (Linksys WRG54T), hence the new one.
I've tinkered a bit with the router settings, changing the 802.11 mode and changing channels (only one neighbour with weak wifi), but no luck. I need to be literally standing next to the router to get a good signal.
Wifi Analyzer app has my connection hovering around -80 dBm
Hope someone can help! Cheers.
Update: After no response in this thread after a week, I've reposted the question here
