I just visited the Sprint store to get the dock. Unfortunately, the Otterbox Defender is just too beefy for the dock. If anyone has another option I would love to know.

FYI, the car dock works just fine with the Seidio/Platinum Surface case. It's a little loose, but Sprint includes two little sticky-back foam pads that tighten things up.

I just picked up the car dock at Sprint. I also ordered this to replace my iGrip amps adapter. This should let me mount it down low on my Kuda base and have a nice secure fit.

Update for those who may have a similar problem: Decided to go with an Aluratek 2amp usb car charger. Product can be found here (newegg link). The Sprint car dock works with the new charger and the evo lte shows the charging status as AC.

You can change the settings so that it doesnt autostart. Just fiddle with it a bit, forgot how to get there... The car app has the settings i think

I should have watched this, I figured it came with a charger (ha jokes on me it did not).

I went in and bought the sprint cig lighter usb power port (since I have multiple spare mini usb cables at home) figured that would work.

I haven't tried it yet.

I'm annoyed I can't use the cord from my OG EVO seido car dock.

Another grip is it doesn't slide in as easily as the Seido one. Oh well I guess it was cheaper overall.

Hey everyone,

We've had some pretty hot days in my area (80 degrees, plus) considering we just hit June. I have my car dock attached to the windshield with the suction cup. I notice after driving around for maybe 30 minutes or more, the phone is EXTREMELY hot. Usually, I have music streaming to the HTC Bluetooth StereoClip and I have Google Navigation running, which means 3G data is also downloading maps. And of course, in docked mode, the screen is always on. Is all this processor/radio/screen activity combined with the heat and direct sunlight too much for the phone?? Or should I just trust the phone can tolerate it and HTC/Sprint would never have released a car dock if it couldn't?

Thanks.

I would still be careful. I have mind under shade just in case and the vents do get to it. While they may have released the product doesn't mean it's safe under all conditions.
