Default Galaxy tab 2 7" VS galaxy tab 7 plus

Hello,

Have the opportunity to buy a 4 day old second hand galaxy plus for about the price of an galaxy tab 2. The specs on the 7 plus are the "plus" over the tab 2, but the plus still runs on honeycomb 3.0. My phone runs the ics and i'm very happy about ics.
Is the 7 plus a good investment, (will it get the ics one day), or would the tab 2 with the "lesser" specs would be the better buy in the dev support department?

Wich one should you choose over the other and why?

Thanks for the input,

Adam

I can't imagine that the 7.0 Plus won't get ICS at some point, but it is hard to tell when that time may be. It is a much better device from a hardware standpoint, and if it were the same price, I don't think I could pass up the 7.0 Plus tablet. However, if you are mainly concerned with development, I would think that the Tab 2 7" is probably going to be a better option. It already ships with ICS, and given that it is probably the best tablet for the price, I would think that many people are going to be getting one. I'm not sure if you're looking for a wifi only tablet or a 3g capable tablet, so that could change things. I know that right now, the wifi Tab 2 has a mostly functioning CM9 ICS port going, and I didn't see any major issues left to fix (though I could be wrong).

Setup a Development Environment
Setup and Use the Android SDK
Stock Odin Restore files

You can find the answer to all of your questions right here. If that doesn't work, then try this or this

Better sound. The Plus utilizes a Yamaha chip which has issues (or at least Samsung's implementation) with low level volume fluctuation and cut out that is extremely annoying to listeners of light music. The Galaxy Tab 2 7 utilizes a Wolfson chip with none of those issues.

If one desires a better music player, the Tab 2 7 is the way to go in my view.

They are pretty similar? I would go for new over used any day. there will be more development for the 2 so if that's your thing you'd be better off on the 2. Only difference I could see was chip set and clock speed.

I have a Tab 2 7" that I purchased a few days ago from Costco, which has a great deal going btw, and I think it is a great little tablet. I don't have a Plus to compare it to so I am not sure the differences.

I don't like the Samsung version of ICS, just my personal opinion, but like posted before CM9 works on it. I have yet to get that installed on mine but I am hoping to this weekend.

I've got cm9 installed on my 2 and its OK nothing to write home about at this point. It lacks flash and hardware acceleration. If you like the cm9 setup go for it but if your looking to get 100% function you'll be disappointed.

The tab 2's sound is fantastic. Blows my galaxy nexus to shreds.

When it comes to media I'd say the tab 2. Raw performance goes to the plus. Then again who knows when the plus will get ICS?

Its definitely a tough choice... not sure what I'd do... although I am very happy with the tab 2.

I have owned both. I lost my tab plus a couple weeks ago and just got the tab 2, my major problem is the lack of development for the plus if you like custom roms. I'm also getting waaaaay better battery life on my tab 2 because of all the developers. I couldn't even notice any of the hardware differences that separate them, they feel like identical pieces of hardware to me.
