Like I said, no tools were required other than my fingers and a couple of credit cards.

In one of the photos I attached previously you can see the cavity for the rear speaker. The speaker itself is not glued in. It just sits inside the cavity and it is surrounded by some kind of foam or cushion which is merely what keeps it in place.

I'm not sure about my warranty. Doesn't an unlocked boot loader already void it?

Reassembly is the reversal of the disassembly. The speaker simply lifts out and is placed into the housing.

A 20 second google search found this (taking apart, putting back together): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd2b-...eature=related

This is one of the easiest phones to disassemble I've come acrosss.

If you don't feel confident, it's maybe best to let someone else do it.

At least I have another option by replacing the housing.
Woohoo! I wasn't expecting my white housing to arrive for another 15 to 20 days. I placed the order on ebay on the 1st of June and was provided with a tracking number. That would make it less than 10 days from Hong-Kong to my doorstep in the UK.

This is the seller: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/daisy_macau

This was the listing (£28.99): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=1035790287015

Now the seller is listing it as being posted from the UK for £31.99: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2510664605...ht_2587wt_1163

I have no connection with this seller apart from making this one purchase and being very pleased!

Yes, I have changed my housing, and have performed the procudure twice.

There are a few things to watch out for. I'd also recommend watching all the videos on the web/youtube. The case doesn't come away quite as easy as how it's shown in the videos. I think that's because it isn't the first time those phones have had the housing off, so the factory glue/adhesive seal has already been broken. If you need to remove the housing a second time, it is very similar to the videos you see on youtube etc.

It's best to start from the bottom left corner.

Take your time, don't rush it. Once you have the corner loose, it's tempting to apply extra pressure to get the other side of the case off too, but you will risk delaminating the screen (splitting the screen where it is glued together). This will give you the screen flex issue when you reassemble it. It does take some time to get the case to detach past the retaining tabs on the inner body. The glue/adhesive on the tape that holds the case together is quite strong, and if you apply too much pressure to get the two parts apart, you risk damaging the screen.

In hindsight, I would suggest using hot air (hair drier) on the back of the phone to soften the glue/adhesive before you start, and then again after you have got the first corner loose.

The speaker is mounted in a board which you can see in the pics of the housing I purchased. The speaker seamed to be fixed into this board, and rather than risk damaging it, I simply removed the whole board, containing the speaker from the old housing and replaced the board in the new housing with this.

When I reassembled the phone, I noticed the screen flexing/white riples when I pressed the screen around the edge. I pressed the screen in firmly around all the edges, and then this issue disappeared.

Just ask if you have any questions, and I'll try and answer them.
