I just went into the recovery and then tried to reboot and it cleared. It wasnt really a bootloop more of getting to the htc sense screen and rebooting.

Wait a minute. I am confused. I thought you didn't have true root on an HTC device unless you had S-OFF. Is all this is doing giving SU rights in the OS? Not that that is bad, just curious.

S-OFF lets you install custom ROMs and stuff. If that is what you consider "true root", then no, this does not give you S-Off.

It does provide root access through the OS, however.

In an unrelated matter, I wonder how difficult it would be to make a long-press on home show recent apps and have the recent apps button work like a menu button...

This is a local root exploit, it doesn't flash a recovery or give S-OFF. As stated in the scripts
Code:
This script will:
(1) root your Evo 4G LTE on ICS
(2) install Busybox
(3) install SU files
Device: HTC EVO 4G LTE | Hardware Version: 0003
Recovery:TWRP 2.3.3.0 | Bootloader: S-OFF
ROM: CM10.1

Script worked, my buddies EVO has root. Thanks for the method. After the script finished, his phone booted to "Android is updating" then rebooted which surprised me...but after that it fully booted. I waited 3 mins and rebooted it, all is working well. As for the bootloader, I didn't check...and don't care. I am sure I will be flashing him a ENG bootloader once S-Off is sorted...
